Be at one with nature at this desert oasis in Utah

Blink and you’ll miss this desert oasis. With its rose-tinted walls and sprawling stone architecture, the Aman Spa at Amangiri blends perfectly into its surroundings. Situated deep in the Utah’s Canyon Point valley, the spa is miles away from the nearest towns, but why would you need to leave when this luxury resort has everything you will ever need.

Relax in a luxury suite while you contemplate the vastness of the blue sky and red desert outside your window; catch up on your reading in the elevated library; escape the heat with a cooling dip in the pool; enjoy a glass of fine wine and a cigar in the resort’s private cellar; or dine on seasonal produce at the exclusive on-site restaurant.

And then, of course, there is the spa. Set over 25,000 square feet, it boasts a yoga pavilion, a flotation room, outdoor treatment terraces and a series of walnut-lined private treatment rooms, as well as the requisite gym, saunas, steam rooms and pools.

Treat yourself to a manicure and pedicure on an outdoor terrace with views across the desert, or relax with a deep tissue massage followed by a spot of colour therapy in the flotation rooms.

At Aman Spa you will hear a lot about “Hozho”. This is a Navajo term which means “beauty, harmony, balance and health”” and it is the founding philosophy of the Amangiri resort. The Navajo and Hopi tribes lived in this area for centuries, and their influence remains in the natural, locally sourced ingredients which are used for all spa treatments and holistic therapies.

Adventurous guests can learn more about the history of the area by booking a tour with one of the resort’s ‘on call’ archaeologists, or you could simply get back to nature with a horseback ride around the neighbouring canyons. The Grand Canyon is just over the border in Arizona, while Bryce Canyon, Monument Valley and the Colorado River are all just a private helicopter ride away.

However, once you’ve experienced the unparalleled peace and tranquillity of the Aman Spa, you are likely to want to stay forever, breathing in the hot, clean desert air and contemplating the beauty of nature as you float away your troubles in the azure pool.

This is the perfect place to reconnect with yourself or a loved one, and learn to appreciate the simpler things in life.
