What is Microdermabrasion

If you’ve ever exfoliated your skin, you’ll know all about the squeaky clean feeling that you get afterwards. Exfoliation scrubs away all the dirt and grime that you didn’t even realise was there, leaving you with clean, healthy-looking skin.

Well, microdermabrasion is like a super-charged, ultra-effective version of your standard exfoliation. For a start, you can’t just do it yourself at home – it has to be carried out by an expert, usually at a spa.

The process is simple: you just sit there while your therapist uses a crystal or diamond-tipped device to spray a mist of micro-crystals all over your face.

These micro-crystals will slough away all the dead skin cells on the surface of your skin, giving your pores a deep clean while stimulating the production of collagen.

This means that immediately after your treatment, you will notice that your skin is brighter, cleaner and younger-looking – it has been known to reduce wrinkles, remove acne scars, and even out skin tone.

Most sessions will last no longer than half an hour, and because the treatment is non-invasive and non-chemical, you can just walk in and walk out again with minimal fuss.

Be warned though, if you have sensitive skin, you may have a bit of a red face for a few hours afterwards, so you might not want to schedule drinks with the lads directly after your appointment.
