What exactly is a men’s facial?

A facial can actually mean lots of things, but it essentially refers to any treatment that focuses on the face.

The average facial for guys might start with a cleansing routine or a steam, then an exfoliating scrub, some sort of aromatherapy treatment or face mask, and a facial massage. That’s it.

Do I really need to bother with a facial?

Done properly, you should come out of your facial feeling relaxed and refreshed and with your skin looking clean and healthy. With regular facial treatments (and daily moisturising) you can keep your skin looking younger for longer and avoid embarrassing breakouts or blemishes.

A few tips on the different types availables

The facial you choose will depend on your skin type and what you’re looking to achieve. If you have acne or blackheads, you might want to choose an extraction facial, where blocked pores are (painfully) cleared out, immediately removing any spots.

If you are worried about wrinkles, there are hundreds of anti-ageing facials designed specifically for men that can slow down or hide the early signs of ageing.

If you are prone to sweating or your skin is very oily, focus on an exfoliating men’s facial that will remove excessive oils and grime from the surface of the skin and slough away dead skin cells.

Speak to your facialist about what you do and do not want from your facial – they’ll then be able to tailor your treatment to your own skincare needs. If they don’t, go somewhere else.
