Fine wines and spa treatments – what’s not to like?
Most spas offer detoxing treatments paired with healthy meals to promote complete wellness among their guests. Not the Vineyard Spa in Newbury – here, it is all about wine: drinking wine, bathing in wine and learning about the history of wine from the in-house sommeliers.
The Vineyard holds around 30,000 bottles of fine wines (mostly from the New World) and encourages guests to sample as many as possible.
At the spa, ‘Grapetherapy’ plays a similarly central role – extolling the virtues of the humble red grape through body wraps, massage, facials and pedicures. Of course, you are very welcome to sip away at a glass of wine while you are being pampered.
As well as its signature treatments, The Vineyard uses the world-class Darphin beauty products, and Australia’s acclaimed VitaMan range. Designed for men only, VitaMan treatments include the popular De-Stress Back Treatment, and a range of facials, which can be tailored to your skin and relaxation needs.
After a day of pampering and drinking, you will be in no rush to leave – so you may as well stay for dinner (and some more wine tasting). The Vineyard’s restaurant is run by award-winning chef Daniel Galmiche, and every course comes with a matching wine.
Given the grown up nature of the spa, it is perhaps surprising that children are welcomed and families well catered for. Nannies are even offered to give parents a break, but this is probably not the ideal family weekend away. Leave the kids at home and make the most of the facilities, guilt free.
